This is a great book on one of the most fascinating racers ever. Think about how many Word Champions are forgotten? Damon Hill, Mika Hakkinen, Alan Jones, Jacques Villeneuve and even the great Alain Prost. Gilles never won a World Championship and only won 6 F1 races in his career but he will never be forgotten because of his signature driving style which was max attack 100% of the time.
I enjoyed how Mr. Mehes approached the book by interviewing former teammates, team members, competitors, family members, friends, press ,etc. with questions about Gilles. Some of the first ones I read were those of Jochen Mass and his son Jacques. After reading those I could not put the book down! Some interviewees views contradict others but that is what makes this book so great. You can form your own opinion on the man himself, what really happened between him and Pironi and was he World Champion material; among many other topics.
Lastly, the book is well done with great pics I have never seen and is of a high quality. You will not be disappointed with this book.
